After dark

Open late on Marquis Road

The casino floor on Marquis Road opens at 9 AM and closes at 4 AM from Sunday to Wednesday. From Thursday to Saturday it stays open 24 hours. The Deli serves casual food, including items from Kookum's Kitchen. It keeps similar hours: 9 AM to 3 AM Sunday to Wednesday, and 24 hours Thursday to Saturday. The Floor Bar pours spirits and pints from 10 AM to 2 AM every day.

Saturday night is where the published schedule goes quiet. After midnight, the casino does not say whether the floor and the Deli stay open into Sunday morning. Between midnight and 9 AM on Sunday, call 306-764-4777 before you drive in. Saskatchewan stays on Central Standard Time all year, so Prince Albert never changes its clocks. Holiday hours are not published, so the same phone line is the check.

The town

The casino and its town

Northern Lights Casino officially opened in March 1996. It is one of seven casinos run by the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA). SIGA lists it with Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation. The name comes from the northern lights. In the casino's words, the lights are thought to be spirits of past generations, departed relatives and friends dancing in the night.

Away from the floor, the casino points visitors to Prince Albert's 35 parks and 1300 acres of parkland. The Rotary Trail is there for walking, running, skating or biking. Little Red River Park and Cooke Municipal golf course are on the same list. So are the Margo Fournier Arts Centre, the John V Hicks Gallery and the city's heritage properties.

Online in Saskatchewan

Online gambling in Saskatchewan

PlayNow.com is the only legal online gambling site in Saskatchewan, open to players 19 and older. SIGA operates it, and Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan manages it. SIGA's online exclusivity runs to September 2029, and the Government of Saskatchewan calls competing sites "illegal platforms". A private online casino has none of the province's player protections. Neither provincial self-exclusion nor Game Break blocks a private site.

Night Gate's paid links, marked Ad, sit on the home page only. They lead to a private online casino partner that pays Night Gate a commission, and that partner can change.
